PayPal has finally signed an agreement in the UK where they are now a payment service provider option for any merchants of Neovia Financial, who have had a visible presence in the online gambling industry.
Previously, PayPal had pulled out of the online gambling world years ago, but seem to have changed their mind. We can only speculate as to their reason but maybe they were too afraid of fraud at the time. In recent years, any sites that accept payment have no adopted a safe, secure transaction process. PayPal has become heavily involved in online gambling with one big move and have clearly quashed any further belief that they want nothing to do with online gambling.
They will, however, continue to refuse to process any payments from the United States as the US government is still regulating online gambling and taking over the accounts of those who process online gambling payment transactions.
Some officials in the US are attempting to change legislation to allow online gambling to operate and process payments. If this does happen, it won’t be until sometime in 2010 because talks with Congress have not even begun to take place.
