Channel Five is taking advantage of new teleshopping rules

UK Television broadcaster “Channel Five” owned by RTL Group is known for their game show Brainteaser, will take advantage of Ofcom’s changes to teleshopping rules and launch their own bingo show “Five Bingo”.

They already agreed a five-year deal with NetPlay TV and launched their own online casino “SuperCasino.com” and are now going one step further in collaboration with PartyGaming. Bingo fans over 18 will be able to play games for free and cash in free prizes.

PartyGaming chief executive Jim Ryan said: “With more than 30 million viewers each week and a household entertainment brand, Five is an important addition to our business-to-business portfolio.

“We are confident of securing more B2B deals in the coming months as we match our eGaming talents and assets with the consumer reach of other companies around the world.”

The free one hour bingo show produced by Two Way Media and presented by Charlie McArdle will be on air weekdays at 11am.

Five’s head of digital media Jonathan Lewis said: “The business model that underpins commercial TV is changing and broadcasters must diversify their revenue streams. Gaming activities such as Five’s online bingo and casino services are just one such example of how broadcasters can broaden their revenue base beyond traditional sources.”
